They Want to Torture, and They Have Tortured

At the root of all the legal redefinitions and claims of necessity, in the face of evidence to the contrary and cries of protest from all corners, is this: they want to torture, and they have tortured. Even Colin Powell is speaking out about it. At this point they probably want to keep their asses out of jail more than they want to continue the techniques.

Their current ravings are on parade in this WP story from Jeffrey Smith: Behind the debate, extreme techniques, Bush, CIA officials say harsh interrogation options are vital or an MSNBC analysis

Vital to what? Experts say it’s ineffective, puts our own troops at risk, and enrages a world that watches us treating un-tried suspects like animals.

Have some fun watching Bush defend the “alternative techniques” over at C&L here. He looks like he’s about to beat-up Matt Lauer in this clip.

Bush isn’t making us any safer. Help throw him out of office!
