The Fine Art and Illustrations of Craig Houghton

Craig Houghton is a self-taught artist available for fine-art commissions and illustration work. He works across a number of mediums and styles, having specialized only in the understanding and expression of his subjects — this diversity allows him complete freedom to choose the style and medium appropriate to a given work. His work regularly includes watercolor, soft pastels, oil pastels, charcoal, oil paint, acrylics, egg tempera, ink, graphite, and digital artwork using a stylus and tablet.

His work has appeared on the cover of Star Line magazine and his custom Painter brushes were featured by Imagine FX. His illustrations may currently be found on nationally distributed product packaging.

For inspiration he looks to the works of David Leffel, Robert Vickrey, Carl Larsson and N.C. Wyeth. In addition to visual art, he enjoys fiction writing and philosophy. He currently lives in Connecticut.

Self-Portrait in Oil Pastels

As a natural observer, I have always been compelled to create art in all its forms. It's not so much a desire to record, as it is to communicate. I share what I experience, but I offer it as I see, hear, and feel it. There's something intensely selfish about the process, but that's how I connect.

Take a look at the works in my gallery, and if you have any questions, please ask! You can write me at leversandpulleys@yahoo.com.
